I spent the first 35 years of my photographic career as a film photographer and I'm very familiar with the “negative” and all that it is capable of being. But before the negative there’s the latent image. Before the latent image there is the idea, the experience and the relationship between the photographer, camera and subject. It’s often too easy to get caught up in feelings that what I am doing has been done before by others or that I have done this before myself. Such attitudes often limit our capabilities of what is possible and yet to come.
