Rearrangement
Art itself is rearrangement, an interpretation of something else experienced: a place, an object, an evocation, a perspective. It never is the thing itself.
I like to take things apart and put them together again, pairing colors and textures that please my eye until whatever it is that wants to emerge has arrived. A rearrangement.
Sometimes that is pulling apart strands of wool and felting them into a picture or a vessel or an object. Or it comes from painting papers and fabrics and layering them into a collage that follows the forms on the materials themselves.
These pieces are harvested from an ever-changing internal perspective as it meets tangible materials in my hands. It is , for me, a visceral experience that mirrors how life around us and within us changes constantly, constructed and deconstructed. And with that ever-present flow of energy, insights, beliefs, attitudes, and attachments can easily shift as well. From this vantage point, any piece of art fits the theme of rearrangement. Because that is life itself., a constant rearrangement.
