Rearrangement
When ‘Rearrangement’ was chosen for this year’s theme for our Resident Artists Show, I had no idea how to connect it with my art. But then I thought I could rearrange ideas, skills, knowledges first and then create something new from them. ‘Rearrange’ does not mean to do the same kind of things to literally rearrange differently. They are just references and inspirations. New creations could be born from them.
Also, I thought about all accumulated things I learned about art from my mentors, teachers and numerous artists who have created art pieces from the beginning of mankind. Without their artistic talent, skills, knowledge, methods, styles, theories enthusiasm and love for art, there won’t be nothing to rearrange from. I am grateful.

Vertical Sound Series (oil paintings)
In my imagination some sounds are vertical than horizontal. For example, sounds of instruments in the rhythm section of orchestra such as drums, double bass, … are vertical whereas sounds of the strings section such as violins, violas … are horizontal … Exploring these vertical sounds as visual form is what I have been doing recently. I just started painting a few and would like to do more.

Fairy Tale Series (alcohol ink paintings)
Normally a fairy tale was written first and an illustration was made for it. But it may be interesting to make them in reverse order. An illustration first and a person looked at it would make his/her fairy tale. These paintings are made based on this idea. If you would have fun with creating your own fairy tale looking at them, I would like to hear it.

To Live (Japanese Calligraphy)
I often think about what it means to live to me? It is always muddled and messy, nothing is clean and straightforward. But we all live through somehow.
