This year I have been spending time walking through the Homewood neighborhood on nature walks. I have really enjoyed my new understanding of the No Mow May idea of leaving berms in a more natural meadow state. Apparently, the city has been encouraging homeowners to do so for a while now. What I noticed was that this year the meadows grew from winter into spring right into the summer and fall. No one mowed them! I got to watch the little meadows grow a variety of wild plants and flowers changing and rearranging themselves from little clovers and vetch to thistle and grasses. I found these transitions very inspiring.
